Government Drug Testing Centre for testing Homoeopathy drugs

Sunday, 27 August 2017

Hyderabad: A separate State Drug Testing Centre (SDTC) will soon come up for testing Ayurvedic, Homeopathy, and Unani drugs being manufactured by 200 pharmaceutical units.

According to Telangana State Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) Department sources, the move has arisen out of the State government’s decision to strengthen the alternative medical system.

Speaking to The Hans India, a senior official from the AYUSH Department said, of late, there has been a manifold increase in the number of people opting for alternative medicine.

This has prompted the State government to streamline the drug administrative system, practice, and sale of medicines.

The new SDTC will have a two-fold functioning. There are about 200 alternative medicine pharmaceutical units including some multinational companies operating in the State.

Similarly, the registration of practitioners of alternative medicine will be strictly enforced as in the case of allopathic doctors. The AYUSH board has decided to ensure proper registration and enrolment of doctors practicing the alternative medical systems.
